Using Character Paint
Using Character Paint is an experience in itself. From our carefully designed packaging, to our richly pigmented colours and high end finishes, you will immediately notice the difference.
Character Paint comes as a dry powder and is mixed with water to produce a beautifully rich, colour intensive paint. Follow our guide below on how to prepare your paint.
Paint can be applied to interior walls and ceilings with either a brush or short nap roller. Ensure that all surfaces are clean and grease free. To help adhesion of Character Paint, lightly sand surafaces prior to painting.
The absence of noxious fumes is one of Character Paint’s remarkable features. This is owing to our unique toxin-free formulation. Learn more about our commitment to sustainability here.
Character Mixing Guide
Mixing Character Paint is quick and easy. Follow our mixing guide below to get the best results.
Character Paint comes in packs of 750g of powder to make up 2.5 litres of paint. The following guidelines are for the mixing of one standard 2.5 litre pack of Character Paint.
Decant powder
Pour Character Paint powder into a large, clean container with a minimum capacity of 4 litres.
Add water
Add 2 litres of hot, not boiling, tap water (c. 40-60°C) to the powder. The temperature of the water should feel hot to touch, but not scalding. If you do not have a measuring jug to hand your Character Paint pouch will double as a measuring guide. Simply pour the water into the empty pouch to the black line labelled ‘FILL LINE 1 LITRE’ and add to the powder. Do this twice to reach the required amount of 2 litres. Do not add more water than recommended.
Mix
Whisk vigorously until all dry powder is completely incorporated and you have a smooth, creamy mixture. You may need to scrape down the sides or bottom of the container to ensure no unmixed powder remains. As this stage, if the paint feels too thick, you can add a little more hot water to the mixture to loosten it.
Paint
As soon as Character Paint is cool, it can be applied with a brush or short nap roller. Allow 4 hours to dry between coats. Paint will be fully hardened in 10 days.
